Mount Mansfield Information
At 4,393 feet, Mount Mansfield is the highest mountain in Vermont and one of the great hiking destinations in the Northeast.
Mansfield’s long, exposed summit ridge rises above the surrounding Green Mountains and offering extraordinary views across northern Vermont, Lake Champlain, and even the Adirondacks of New York.
On exceptionally clear days, the White Mountains of New Hampshire are visible to the east.
Mount Mansfield gets its name from the distinctive profile of its summit ridge, which resembles the face of a person lying on their back. Several prominent features are named accordingly, including the Forehead, Nose, Upper Lip, and Chin.
The Chin is the mountain’s true summit and the highest point in Vermont.
