This is one of my favorite hikes to do in The Catskills
There’s a footbridge over a beautiful stream, right when you start. There are several fantastic boardwalks. A killer lean-to and camping area. A wonderful spruce forest. So much peaceful trail. And the summit has three amazing lookouts.
There’s also nothing technical about this route; there are no rock scrambles or dangerous sections. It’s just a very pleasant 3.5 mile uphill hike.
This video walks you through the trails and junctions from trailhead to summit, giving you a clear sense of just how lovely (and do-able) this hike is.
I did this hike in June 2021, to catch a partial eclipse at sunrise, and the video captures that moment too.
