Ashokan High Point Information
This is one of the most popular day hike peaks in the Catskills. Weekends see a lot of causal hiker traffic, and relatively few people seem well-prepared. After an easy 2.7 mile (4.4 km) hike up to the junction, the final climb to the summit is a very steep mile — the trail switches suddenly from easy hiking to difficult hiking. But it’s during the descent where you’ll be most grateful for the traction that good hiking boots provide. Ashokan High Point is a place where proper hiking footwear can help prevent a bad tumble.
