Easy New York Hike

I just published this trail guide to the Cornish Estate in Cold Spring. It’s close to New York City and is such an easy hike, but it’s also super rewarding. The ruins are fantastic.

There’s an option to make it 2 miles total (for the main ruins) or 4 miles total (if you want to visit a second set of ruins). This is some of the best hiking near NYC.

Moderate New York Hike

Balsam Lake Mountain is one of the easiest Catskills High Peaks to hike, and the fire tower at the summit has one the best 360° wilderness views in the entire Catskills Park.

Difficult New York Hike

The Nun-Da-Ga-O ridge is as magical as it is tough. Do not let these easy-sounding mileage and elevation stats trick you!

Looking at the contour map, you’d never guess how tough this hike is. But it’s is crazy good fun. One of my favorite hikes ever. This is one of the best hikes Upstate NY.

Hardest New York Hike

Demanding and spectacular, the Dix Range is one of the most rugged and scenic Adirondack mountain ranges.

At 16-20 miles, and with 5500 ft of elevation gain, hiking this is one of the longest and most challenging day hikes in the Adirondacks — but the rewards are absolutely insane.
